Whitby’s urban forest is made up of all the trees that grow on public and private lands across the entire town. These trees provide oxygen, shade, cooling, beautify the community, and so much more.
As our community grows, our trees could face challenges from urban development, climate change, invasive species, and more. That’s why there is a need to create an Urban Forest Management Plan now to help protect our trees.
The plan will outline a long-term vision for our urban forest and establish goals, targets, and maintenance standards for the protection and enhancement of Whitby's Urban Forest.

Opportunities to review the draft Urban Forest Management Plan will be available in late 2024.
