Whitburn Street Speed Humps

A staff report will be presented at the Committee of the Whole (COW) meeting on Monday, June 9. The report will ask Council for direction on any removal or relocation of the speed humps.

The staff report for the June 9 COW meeting is now available online.

In-Person and Virtual Meeting Details:

Residents interested in speaking at the Committee of the Whole Meeting virtually or in-person are required to register with the Town Clerk by 8 a.m. on the day of the meeting (Monday, June 9). Delegation Forms are available online at www.whitby.ca/Delegation.

In 2022, a series of eight speed humps were installed along Whitburn Street, between Rossland Road and Jack Miner Public School in response to community requests.

The design of the humps considered industry standards, driveway locations, and desires lines/destinations. Spacing of the speed humps was intentional to reduce travel speeds and limit drivers ability to speed up between the speed humps.

Since the install of these speed humps, some residents have requested the removal of some or all of the speed humps - and we want your thoughts.

Community Engagement

Thank you to the nearly 550 people who completed a survey in Spring 2024 to share whether you think the speed humps should be:

  • permanently removed,
  • reduced in number, or
  • maintained.
