The change rooms are underway with new block walls, plumbing, mechanical and electrical completed, with tiling scheduled to start the week of May 29th.

As previously noted, the discovery of several concealed site conditions, coupled with a trade labour strike last spring, staffing shortages, and ongoing worldwide supply chain issues continue to impact the project. Again, we assure you that the Town is actively taking measures to expedite the completion of the project.

Why It Matters

The Town is committed to providing an inclusive environment where all residents, visitors and employees have equal access to programs, services, facilities and amenities. In particular, change rooms are being renovated to better accommodate families with children, residents who are 55 +, and persons with disabilities.

What’s Next

The renovation of the pool area, inclusive change rooms, and the new multi-purpose recreation programming space will be complete later this year.

The construction process is well underway. For example, the pool hall renovations are almost finished, with the new ceiling, sprinkler lines, pool lighting, and sound system 100% complete.

A reminder that the Anne Ottenbrite Pool at Iroquois Park Sports Centre remains open for your enjoyment.

Project Funding

This project has been made possible by a more than $1.9 million grant from the Government of Canada’s Community, Culture and Recreation Infrastructure Stream (CCRIS) of the Investing in Canada plan; over $1.6 million grant from the Province of Ontario; and a $1.3 investment from the Town of Whitby.
