The Town of Whitby is updating its Whitby Green Standard, which is a comprehensive toolkit designed to promote and enhance sustainable development within the Town. It serves as a guide for developers to incorporate sustainability measures into new projects, to make sure these developments contribute positively to the environment and the community. The Whitby Green Standard is being updated as per action 2.4.2 in the Climate Emergency Response Plan, Phase 2: Mitigation and will help achieve the Town's greenhouse gas reduction target of net-zero emissions by 2045.

This engagement will focus on developing the next version of the standard.

To date, the Town has engaged multiple residents and developers and nearly 20 organizations to inform a draft for further community engagement.
