The Town of Whitby is starting a multi-year project to refresh and revitalize historic Brock Street, from the exit at Highway 401 all the way north to the CP rail track near Maple Street, and we want to know what matters most to you.

Is it landscaping, a vibrant entertainment space for community events, smooth sidewalks for strollers and mobility devices, traffic calming measures to ensure a safer street for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists? Or something else?

Public Engagement Results - Phase I

Hey, Connect Whitby community! As a follower of the Brock Street Redesign project, we wanted to let you know that the results of the first survey and initial engagement sessions are in.

Thank you to the more than 580 people who participated in this round of engagement.

Here’s the highlights of what we heard:

  • 80% of survey participants travel on Brock Street daily or a few times a week, with 85% using a vehicle.
  • Top design feature priorities for the Brock Street redesign: patios, trees, planters/flowers.
  • Other common design considerations raised by survey participants: road safety, pedestrian safety, heritage character, accessibility, parking, festivals and events, and transit connectivity.

See the full survey and engagement session results online.

Next Steps

The feedback we collect will be used to create concept designs for additional community input this fall. A final recommendation will be presented to Council in early 2025 for approval.

Thank you for your participation and interest in this project!

Virtual Open House

Thank you to the over 60 people who joined us on Wednesday, April 10 for a virtual meeting to learn more and share feedback on key areas. If you missed it, you can view the recording below.
