Roebuck Street 2024 Road Mural "Field to Fork"
The Town of Whitby congratulates artist Chrrie @kingchrrie for their work on this year's Roebuck Street Road Mural!
Roebuck Street will be closed from June to mid-September to be used as a community gathering space featuring Muskoka Chairs, planters and picnic tables, creating an extension of Grass Park. The goal of this project is to provide additional opportunities for residents and visitors to connect and enjoy events, celebrations and more. Additionally, the project aims to support area businesses by attracting more people to shop in and enjoy Downtown Brooklin.
As part of the project and to raise the profile of Whitby's artists community and the importance of public art in urban areas, Whitby looks for dynamic impactful ideas each year to create a new road mural!

Amanda Cannella -
I wanted my mural to be a bright and vivid composition highlighting the history of Brooklin as well as community spaces that proved important in my formative years. The mural also incorporates some interactive elements to further encourage activity during community gatherings on Roebuck Street this Summer.
Concrete Barrier Artists
Carey Howard -
My designs are about the land that connects us. Honouring the farmland with the sun rising over it and Lynde Creek that flows through all of Whitby. At the end of the day, we are ‘Glad You’re Here’!

My piece for Brooklin's Placemaking Project focuses on highlighting the incredible small, local businesses that keep the city lively. Through my hardworking flower friends, I pay tribute to the amazing people that dedicate themselves to the time, work and wonderment that it takes to create true community.

Located in the heart of Brooklin, this mural is a symphony of multi-colour stripes and curves intertwining, representing the diversity, unity, and connections of our community. Hands fist bumping symbolize solidarity and support, while peace signs remind us of our shared desire for harmony. Waves and clasped hands serve as gentle reminders that we are stronger together, fostering a sense of connection and belonging for all who pass by.
Congratulations
Thank you to those who participated in the Roebuck Street Placemaking Survey last year! The results indicated overwhelming support for the project with the majority of respondents enjoying the space.
